Dr. Steinke graduated from the University of Saskatchewan Medical School. After finishing a rotating
internship in Saskatoon he completed the Neurosurgical Residency Program at the University of Alberta in Edmonton and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1990. He received a Masters of Science degree working with Dr. Bryce Weir in the Cerebrovascular Laboratory. He has previously served as Residency Program Director, President of the Alberta Neurosurgical Society, and Site Chief for Neurosurgery at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
Dr. Steinke is currently a Neurosurgeon working at both the Royal Alexandra and University Hospitals. He has a busy clinical practice specializing in adult brain tumors. He has a special interest in the non-operative and operative management of patients with intracranial meningiomas. He works closely with ENT and Ophthalmological colleagues in managing skull base tumors. He is presently an Associate Professor at the University of Alberta.
