Dr. Nataraj obtained a BSc (Medicine) and MD with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan in 1999. He then undertook his neurosurgery residency at the University of Toronto under program director Dr. MC Wallace and Chairman Dr. JT Rutka. Within his residency, Dr. Nataraj spent one year as a research fellow at the University of Newcastle in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom.

Dr. Nataraj was awarded a fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in Neurosurgery in 2005. He then completed a fellowship in complex spinal neurosurgery at the University of Miami under the guidance of Drs Green, Levi and Vanni.

Besides general neurosurgery, Dr. Nataraj’s subspecialty interests lie in complex spinal surgery and minimally invasive spinal surgery. His research interests lie in mathematical modeling of neural and spinal elements.
